Laguuni means lagoon in Finnish. This beautiful design from Marjatta Metsovaara is pictured as a travel rug in a US catalog from 1960 and in the catalog of Expo 69, which was the last of Finland's greatest private exhibitions, held at the Helsinki Art Hall.
The fabric is now produced in the exact colors on slow-speed power looms with a distinctly hand-crafted appeal. This beautiful mohair and wool throw blanket with the Metsovaara fringes at the ends will keep you warm this winter. At newly built state-of-the-art combing and spinning facilities, these natural fibers are transformed into unique variations of yarns. Woven in the original Laguuni pattern, the fabric is brushed to create a classic, fluffy form. All this means that a throw from Metsovaara not only adorns any room but also provides high comfort and a genuine sense of craftsmanship and heritage.
With today’s improved production methods, the material is more reliable and resistant to washing.
