Riinu is a Finnish girl’s name, and the meaning of this name is "Pure”. Marjatta Metsovaara designed it in the later 1960s. Travel rugs in the same material were offered in Metsovaara shops in Finland and the finest department stores worldwide.
Today we seek to produce this fine fabric on slow-speed power looms with a distinctly hand-crafted appeal. This beautiful mohair and wool travel rug with fringes at the ends will keep you warm this winter. At newly built state-of-the-art combing and spinning facilities, these natural fibers are transformed into unique variations of yarns. Woven in the original Riinu pattern, the fabric is brushed to create a classic, fluffy form. All this means that a travel rug from Metsovaara not only adorns any room but also provides high comfort and a genuine sense of craftsmanship and heritage.
